RSC authors, readers and publishing teams throughout the world are celebrating news of continued success for RSC journals, following the release of the 2007 Impact Factors, calculated by ISI®. With many leading impact journals in their field, titles from across the collection have recorded impressive rises, while the latest immediacy indices confirm the relevance and topicality of research published by the RSC. Highlights include:
The Analyst - #1 for immediacy in analytical chemistry (1.032), and enjoying a rise in impact factor of more than 10% for the second year running (3.553)
ChemComm - 13% increase with a new impact factor of 5.141
Chem Soc Rev - ranked #1 for immediacy (3.406) and #3 for impact factor (13.082) in general chemistry
CrystEngComm - #1 for immediacy in crystal engineering (0.614)
Dalton Transactions - #1 for immediacy (0.758), and with the greatest % growth in impact factor in 2007 (6.6% to 3.212) in inorganic chemistry
Green Chemistry - extending its lead as the #1 green chemistry journal with a 15% rise in impact factor (4.836)
JAAS (Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry) - maintaining its position as the #1 journal in the field (3.269)
Journal of Environmental Monitoring - 20% rise in impact factor to 1.833
Journal of Materials Chemistry - an impact factor of 4.339, representing an impressive 59% rise over 3 years
Lab on a Chip - still one of the leading journals in micro- and nano- research with an impact factor of 5.068
Molecular BioSystems - a staggering increase of 68% to an impact factor of 4.121
Natural Product Reports - #1 for immediacy in the field of organic chemistry (1.672)
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry - 10% increase with a new impact factor of 3.167
Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences - maintaining its position as the #1 journal for photochemical and photobiological research (2.208)
PCCP (Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics) - an impact factor of 3.343, representing an impressive 61% rise over 3 years
Soft Matter - #1 for impact and immediacy in the field (4.703 and 0.784 respectively)

The Impact Factor provides an indication of the average number of citations per paper. Produced annually by ISI®, Impact Factors are calculated by dividing the number of citations in a year, by the number of citeable articles published in the preceding two years.
The immediacy index is a measure of how topical and urgent the papers published by a journal are. It is calculated by dividing the number of citations to articles published in a given year by the number of articles published in that year.
